Provided is an indoor unit for an air-conditioning equipment, which can seal a suction opening completely with a flat panel at an operation shutdown and which can keep the flat panel in a stable open attitude at an operating time. In the indoor unit (2), a drive unit (50) inserts a shaft (43) into the bearing (42) of a flat panel (4) at the operating time, and extracts the shaft (43) from the bearing (42) at a maintenance time. The shaft (43) supports the flat panel (4) rotatably so that the upward and downward movements of the flat panel (4) by a lifting unit (7) can be converted into rotating actions, thereby to tilt the attitude of the flat panel (4) with respect to the ceiling face. As a result, at the operating time, a suction opening (21) can be formed with the flat panel (4) being supported by the body, so that the attitude can be prevented from being unstabilized by the wind pressure of suction air.
