PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractor illumination system that is adjustable according to an illumination requirement of a discretionary surgical field.SOLUTION: A retractor 3 includes a light guide 5 mounted thereon. The light guide is fitted to the retractor such that a light emitting surface 7 of the light guide faces an opened surgical field 9. A light source 11 is fitted to a proximal end of the retractor and optically communicated to the light guide. When the light is emitted in use, the light guide is directed toward a designated lighting field such as a surgical field that is present near a distal blade part of the retractor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
