PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a journal bearing equipped with an enhanced durability and reliability by forming a lubricant film stably between the friction surfaces of a shaft and bearing even in operation at a low sliding speed and preventing the bearing from wear and seizure. SOLUTION: A journal bearing bears a rotary shaft 3 by a ring-shaped bearing member 1, whose inner surface is furnished with a plurality of micro- projections 2 thinner than a lubricant film at a certain spacing in the circumferential direction, and the contacting time of the inner surfaces of the micro- projections 2 with the outside surface of the shaft 3 is shortened and also the contacting area is lessened, and thus the friction surfaces are stabilized and seizure is prevented.
