PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earth auger capable of sufficiently utilizing the heights of a boom and a cylinder for a working machine without installing a leader for an auger screw in a drilling machine, and easily installing the earth auger in a short time at a construction site for easy drilling work. SOLUTION: A an earth auger 1 for a drilling machine for drilling a vertical hole includes a leader 132 connected directly to a driving source for rotationally driving a screw 12 and a sliding mechanism for transmitting rotation from the screw 12 to the leader 132 and to be freely slidable in the vertical direction, the leader being arranged in the screw, wherein the driving source is not moved but only the screw portion is lowered for drilling work. The driving source can be almost fixed thereto and the heights of a boom 2 and a cylinder for a working machine can be freely set without separately installing the leader for the auger screw, and the earth auger 1 can be easily installed in a short time at a construction site for easy drilling work.
