A recorder includes a recording medium (4) in which a plurality of unit memory areas are provided. When alarm signal is not generated, are cording circuit (3) writes image signals in the unit memory areas cyclically. When an alarm signal is generated, the recording circuit (3) overwrites the image signals in the unit memory areas existing for apart. The frame rate of the image signals in writing is always l0fps regardless of the alarm signal. Some of the image signals, which are written before the alarm signal is generated, are eliminated by the overwriting after the alarm signal is generated. The frame rate of the image signals, which are not e11minated by the overwriting, is lowered to 2fps.
