<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that liquid absorbing efficiency of the conventional liquid absorbing body is low since the outside surface of the conventional liquid absorbing body except for the cut end face is restrained by a thermoplastic nonwoven sheet. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid absorbing body 1 is characterized in that a liquid absorbing base stock 2 is compressed and formed into a clumpy shape, so that the outside surface 5 of the clumpy liquid absorbing base stock 2 can expand toward the outside without restraint when the liquid absorbing base stock 2 absorbs a liquid from the outside 5 thereof. The adjacent compressed liquid absorbing base stocks 2 are stuck to each other by a binder 3.
