<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently form ammonia and reduce NO<SB>X</SB>to nitrogen molecule even in low temperature exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: An urea reforming device is provided with a pair of electrodes, a dielectric mixed with urea and provided between the pair of electrodes, an electric power source constructed to be connected to the pair of electrodes and convert urea to ammonia by discharging pulse or alternating current between the pair of electrodes, and a carrier gas supply means constructed to extrude ammonia converted from urea by supplying carrier gas to the dielectric. Preferably, the dielectric is in a small lump shape and urea is in a powder shape or a small grain shape. An exhaust emission control device is provided with the urea reforming device and a reduction catalyst provided in an exhaust gas route of an engine and reducing nitrogen oxide (NO<SB>X</SB>) using ammonia formed by the urea reforming device as reducer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
