A vehicle interface device 1 for generating an audible indication of a potential hazard 6 comprising; a plurality of electroacoustic transducers 30 for generating an audio object 29 and a processor 7. The processor 7 is configured to determine the angular position of the identified hazard 6 relative to the vehicle, generate a control signal to cause the electroacoustic transducers 30 to generate an audio object 29 and to modify the control signal to progressively change a perceived spatial location of the audio object 29 to represent changes in the determined relative angular position of the identified hazard 6. The vehicle interface device 1 may also comprise a display [13, fig 2] on which a visual indication of the potential hazard 6 may be generated. The device 1 may further comprise vibration generators [38, fig 10] within the drivers seat [32, fig 10] for creating a haptic indication of the potential hazard 6. |
