This surface light source is provided with a light diffusing plate and a plurality of light emitting devices disposed in a prescribed arrangement in a first direction and a second direction. The plurality of light emitting devices each include a plurality of light emitting elements that are aligned in the second direction and have mutually different colors of emitted light, and a luminous flux control member that controls the distribution of the light emitted from the plurality of light emitting elements. The luminous flux control member includes an incident surface, total reflection surfaces which reflect a portion of the incident light from the incident surface in the first direction and in a third direction that is the opposite direction thereof, and two light guiding sections which guide a portion of the incident light from the incident surface in the first direction or the third direction. The arrangement order of the plurality of light emitting elements in a given light emitting device differs from the arrangement order of the plurality of light emitting elements in another light emitting device adjacent thereto in the first direction or the second direction. |
