PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer which enables simplification of a device configuration in an ink passage and can use water-soluble inks and organic solvent inks, and to provide an ink filling method in the ink jet printer.SOLUTION: An ink jet printer includes: an ink head which discharges an ink onto a medium; a main tank which stores the ink and serves as an ink supply source; a booster pump which sends the ink in the main tank to an ink path which connects the main tank with the ink head; a sub tank which is disposed in the middle of the ink path and temporarily stores the ink sent from the main tank by the booster pump; and a filter which is disposed on the sub tank, allows air to pass therethrough, and has a property which does not allow the ink to pass therethrough.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
