PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer unit for suppressing occurrence of both of a crack and a flaw on a surface of a transfer member caused by contact with a recording medium.SOLUTION: A transfer unit 101 comprises: a transfer member (e.g., a secondary transfer roll 26) having, for example, an elastic layer 26B and a surface resin layer 26C formed on the elastic layer 26B, and having Asker C hardness of 60° or greater, a microhardness of the surface by a microhardness tester of 1.5 or greater, and a Young's modulus of the surface of 100 MPa to 350 MPa; and a counter member (e.g., a back roll 24) disposed facing the transfer member, and having Asker C hardness of 60° or greater. The transfer unit 101 transfers a toner image onto a recording medium by imparting an electric field between the transfer member and the counter member when the recording medium passes between the transfer member and the counter member while coming in contact with the transfer member. |
