PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dentifrice composition excellent in shape retaining properties on a tooth brush and further excellent in dispersibility in an oral cavity by including a psyllium seed gum as a binder. SOLUTION: This dentifrice composition is obtained by including a psyllium seed gum [a natural plant gum comprising a husk taken from a seed of Plantago ovata Forskal, etc., in plants of the Plantago species (a species of Plantago asiatica L.) or its derivative (e.g. a carboxymethylated substance obtained by carboxymethylating hydroxyl groups contained in the psyllium seed gum) in an amount of preferably 0.01-10 wt.% based on the whole composition. Furthermore, other binders (e.g. carrageenan or sodium alginate) can optionally be contained in addition to the psyllium seed gum.
