A data recording method, a recording device, and a recording medium are provided to encode reproduction mode information of video signals, so that a random user cannot know contents of the reproduction mode information without key information, thereby preventing the contents from being modified. Reproduction mode information transmitted from a terminal(15P) is converted into data by responding to key information received from a terminal(15K) in order to be encoded by a reproduction mode information additional circuit(14) within a header additional circuit(13). Result information including the data and the reproduction mode information are outputted. A reproduction unit performs a data conversion for the encoded reproduction mode information to decode the information by a reproduction mode information detection circuit(26) within a header separating circuit(25), by using key information received from a terminal(27K) so as to obtain original reproduction mode information in a terminal(27P).
