PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect abnormal timing in a sampling pulse. SOLUTION: A sample timing monitor system has at least one detection circuit. The detection circuit comprises: a pulse conversion circuit for converting the timelike relationship between a drive signal for driving an imaging pickup device and the sampling pulse supplied to a sampling circuit for performing correlation double sampling to an analog output signal outputted from the image pickup device to a pulse; a counter circuit for measuring the width of a pulse outputted from the pulse conversion circuit; and a comparison circuit for determining whether a value measured by the counter circuit is within a prescribed range.
