PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sill clearance sealing device for an elevator capable of preventing the fall of a foreign material into a hoistway when a passenger gets into or out of an elevator car by blocking up a clearance between both of a car side sill and a landing side sill when a doorway is fully opened, while securing a sufficient clearance when the doorway is fully closed. SOLUTION: Flat belts 12 having sponge-like clearance blocking belts 15 are wrapped around two pairs of pulleys 9, 10 and 11 provided at a lower part of the car 11, and each of the flat belts 12 is connected to each of car side doors 3a and 3b for opening and closing the car side doorway through a bracket 13. Each of the clearance blocking belts 15 is housed under the floor of the car 1 when the car side doorway 2 is fully closed, and on the other hand, each of the flat belts 12 is moved to go around by the opening operation of each of the car side doors 3a and 3b to block up the clearance G between both the sills 4 and 8 when the car side doorway 2 is fully opened.
