PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound absorbing floor mat backing material with a slip stopper which can be easily manufactured without using excessive raw material, has light weight and excellent sound absorbing properties and ventilating properties, and can sufficiently obtain a slip-preventive function. SOLUTION: For the sound absorbing floor mat backing material 3 with the slip stopper, one surface of a needle punch nonwoven fabric with unit weight of 200 to 200 g/m<SP>2</SP>made from mixed yarn of polyethylene terephthalate short fibers of 90% by weight at maximum, and low melting point short fibers having a melting point not more than 200°C as the rest, is formed to have projecting/recessed shapes by embossing.
