PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constant velocity universal joint that can be improved in strength and durability by making the spherical angle bigger, making the inside diameter of the inlet part of an outer ring smaller while achieving simplification and curtailing costs of the assembly work by upgrading the assembling property of the inner parts to the inside of the outer ring, and its assembling method of the constant velocity universal joint. SOLUTION: A pressing force in the inside diameter direction is imparted to an outside joint member 28 and an inside diameter aperture 37 of the outside joint member 28 is elastically deformed into an elliptical shape having a long diameter part 37a and a short diameter part 37b. In a state that an axis line M2 of a retainer 26 and the axis line M1 of the outside joint member 28 are orthogonal, the retainer 26 is inserted into the outside joint member 28, while maintaining the inside diameter aperture 37 of the outside joint member 28 in the elliptical shape. By relieving the pressing force of the outside joint member 28, the inside diameter aperture 37 is restored to a circular aperture. The retainer 26 is rotated by 90°toward the outside joint member 28 to mate the axis line M1 of the outside joint member 28 and the axis line M2 of the retainer 26. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
