PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooker capable of preventing heating from being performed in a half-clamped state. SOLUTION: A latch 71 including a latch horizontal part 71a, a latch vertical part 71b and a latch pawl part 71c is freely turnably installed at the lid part of a rice cooker, the main body of the rice cooker is provided with a means 80 including a guide part 82 and a fixing part 81 so as to engage the latch pawl part 71c, and an engagement acceleration means (plunger) 200 for making the latch pawl part 71c enter the back of the fixing part 81 is installed. When an operation means (rice cooking button) is pressed, a control means activates the engagement acceleration means 200 to surely engage the latch pawl part 71c with the fixing part 81 and then shifts to a rice cooking sequence.
