Provided are a network registration method and a terminal, which relate to the field of communications, solve the problem in the prior art of excessively long time consumption when a terminal performs IMSI switching, and improve the utilization rate of network resources at the same time. The solution comprises: when a terminal resides in a PLMN of a roaming place, the terminal receives location area information about the roaming place from the PLMN; the terminal acquires subscription data of the terminal, the subscription data containing the correlation between each IMSI of a plurality of IMSIs of the terminal and a subscribed location area; according to the location area information and the subscription data, the terminal determines an IMSI corresponding to the location area information; if a first IMSI being used by the terminal is inconsistent with the determined IMSI, the terminal switches the first IMSI being used to a second IMSI consistent with the determined IMSI; and the terminal is registered to the resident PLMN by means of the second IMSI. |
