PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit reproduction target data with the prevention of reproduction interruption, without estimating communication quality.SOLUTION: A transmission method includes: performing coding processing on data to be radio transmitted, to generate coded data; generating transmission coded data, composed of coded data for a plurality of frames and included in a transmission unit of a fixed size; temporarily retaining transmission coded data before the radio transmission; determining the number of storage frames, which represents the number of the coded data frames at the generation of the transmission coded data, on the basis of the number of data waiting for transmission, which represents the number of the retained transmission coded data before radio transmission; and determining a compression rate to be adopted in the coding processing, on the basis of the number of the determined storage frames.
