SOLUTION: This control device of the automatic transmission calculates the facing friction coefficient of the transmission clutch 31, and controls fastening hydraulic pressure of the transmission clutch 31 on the basis of this friction coefficient. The transmission clutch 31 is constituted so that a plurality of friction plates 31d, etc., and 31d are arranged in a row between a clutch drum 31b and a clutch hub 31c, and a lubricating oil supply port 31c' is arranged in the clutch hub 31c for supplying lubricating oil to the friction plates 31d, etc., and 31d from the inner peripheral side, and a lubricating oil discharge port 31b' is arranged in the clutch drum 31b for discharging the lubricating oil to an external part in the radial direction. A discharge oil temperature detecting sensor 110 is arranged for detecting the temperature of the lubricating oil discharged to the external part in the radial direction from the lubricating oil discharge port 31b', and the temperature of the lubricating oil detected by this sensor 110 is converted into the facing friction coefficient.
