PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pretreatment apparatus for use in coating having improved energy efficiency relative to a prior art technique. SOLUTION: The pretreatment apparatus for use in coating comprised of a tunnel booth, a chemical treatment tub and a water washing tub disposed in the tunnel booth in series wherein an object to be treated is chemically treated and washed with water by transferring the object to be treated from one tub to the other is characterized by further comprising an air circulation device for sucking air from above the central part of the chemical treatment tub disposed in the moving direction of the object to be treated and for blowing air downward from above the both end parts of the chemical treatment tub disposed in the moving direction of the object to be treated.
