<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct type planar light source unit capable of effectively suppressing luminance irregularities and being configured to be thin as a whole with a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The planar light source unit 10 includes a plurality of linear light sources 12 disposed on a substrate 11 at prescribed intervals in parallel with each other and a light guide 13 disposed above the linear light sources. An upper surface 13a of the light guide is curved so as to be lowest just above each linear light source and then projected in an arch shape upwards in an area between each linear light source in the cross section perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the linear light sources 12. The lowest parts 13b are positioned just above each linear light source in the cross section, and the curved parts in the arch shape between them are formed so as to reduce an inclination angle as separating from the lowest parts and totally reflect light from the corresponding linear light sources at any part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
