<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for bending a rectangular material edgewise wherein when a rectangular material is bent edgewise, increase in the short side size on the inner radius side in a bending position can be suppressed as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for bending a rectangular material edgewise includes: an arresting mechanism 57 that presses a long side B of a rectangular material 15 having a rectangular cross section comprised of long sides B and short sides A1 and is brought into contact with a short side A1 and arrests it; and an outside guide 59 and a rotating mechanism 60 that bend the rectangular material 15 edgewise. The arresting mechanism 57 arrests part of the rectangular material 15 to an arrested size (A1-A2) shorter than each short side A1 of the rectangular material 15 within the range of elastic deformation. The outside guide 59 and the rotating mechanism 60 bend the rectangular material 15 toward the short side A1 in contact with the shaft portion 57b of the arresting mechanism 57. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
