The present invention relates to the generation of a signal for estimating the transmission quality in a communication system, wherein a digital file is converted (400), in response to a test request (300), into an analog signal by applying a parameter that is a function of a parameter particular to the digital file, e.g. the sampling frequency thereof. A measuring apparatus can then receive a signal from said analog signal (600), which is transmitted in the system to be evaluated and thus degraded by the latter (500), and use the same for providing an evaluation of the transmission quality thereof (700). In the event the system is digital, the analog signal is converted into a digital file to be transmitted (450), the degradation then consisting of a data packet loss that is evaluated by the measuring apparatus. |
