PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain thermal deformation of a column by integrally molding a cooling medium penetrating passage in the shape of a through hole in a wall material of a column wall of the column of a machine tool main body by casting, and flowing a cooling medium to the cooling medium penetrating passage. SOLUTION: A coolant penetrating passage 9 is integrally molded in the shape of a through hole in a wall material of a column wall 8 by casting so as to pass through into the wall material of the column wall 8 to both side surfaces of the column wall 8. At time of working, a spindle rotates at a high speed. Heating is caused in the bearing part in a spindle head and the meshing part of gears by this high speed rotation. These heat is transmitted up to a column 3, so that the column 3 is easily thermally deformed. In this case, since a coolant flows in the coolant penetrating passage 9 on the inside of the column wall 8, this generating heat is absorbed to thus prevent deformation by heat of the column 3, thereby machines a work with high accuracy by a tool.
