A method for manufacturing a porous honeycomb structure comprises steps of mixing at least an aggregate particulate material composed of an non-oxide ceramic containing silicon and/or a silicon metal, water, an organic binder, a pore-forming agent, and an alkali metal source; of kneading the mixture to form a green material; of shaping the green material into a honeycomb having a plurality of cells as passages for a fluid, of drying the shaped material to obtain a honeycomb body; of calcinating the honeycomb body to obtain a calcinated body; and of firing the calcinated body to obtain a porous honeycomb structure. |
