PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which does not need firmware for performing a special processing after releasing a printer engine from a sleep state. SOLUTION: The printer is provided with a vertical synchronizing stabilization circuit 20 for starting the processing of feeding a high level signal to an image processing ASIC15 as a vertical synchronizing signal when a sleep signal level changes to a low level (the level from which the printing engine 12 will be in the sleep state), finishing the processing when "the time set as the time when the unfixed state of the vertical synchronizing signal from the printing engine is certainly eliminated" passes after the sleep signal level changes to a high level and starting the processing for feeding the vertical synchronizing signal from the printing engine to the image processing ASIC 15.
