PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical element by which the cost of the optical element can be reduced. SOLUTION: A molding die 100 is equipped with: a sleeve 110 having a housing part 111 for housing a holder member 2 of an optical element when performing pressure-molding; an upper die 120 having an edge part 121; a lower die 130 having an edge part 131; and a heating mechanism and a cooling mechanism neither illustrated. Recessed curved surface parts 122 and 132 where the lens surfaces 33 and 34 of a lens member 3 are transferred, end face parts 123 and 133 where an intermediate part is transferred, and relief parts 124 and 134 are formed at the edge parts 121 and 131. A part of a preform gets into the relief parts 124 and 134 when pressure-molding, so that periphery parts 35 and 36 are formed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
