PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display medium with a low manufacturing cost, and a display system. SOLUTION: Since a photoconductor 18 is disposed closer to a light transmitting substrate 12 side than a data electrode 20 and a pixel electrode 22, the photoconductor 18 is irradiated with light from the light transmitting substrate 12 side even if the data electrode 20 and the pixel electrode 22 are not composed of transparent materials. Consequently, materials for the data electrode 20 and the pixel electrode 22 are highly freely selected and the data electrode 20 and the pixel electrode 22 can be composed of inexpensive materials, and as a result an effect that the manufacturing cost of the display medium 10 is made inexpensive is attained.
