摘要 419,330. Buckles &c. PARVA PRODUCTS CO., Wilmington, Delaware, U.S.A.-(Assignees of White, P. W., and Heinze, P.) Oct. 9, 1933, No. 27768. Convention date, July 3. [Class 43.] A slide buckle comprises a pair of slidably engaged parallel frames, with side-bars and cross-bars forming slots to receive a strap, with means on one frame engaging the other to force the opposed faces of the frames closer together when they are moved along the strap relatively to one another, so as to clamp the strap between the opposed faces of co-operating cross-bars of the frames. Fig. 15 is a longitudinal section through a buckle for adjustably attaching a strap to an article of dress, comprising a lower frame 31, 32 attached, for example by sewing, to the dress and an upper frame 24, 26, 25 sliding on the lower, the strap being threaded through the two frames as shown dotted. The side-bars of the lower frame 31, 32 have parts 39 of tapering channel form, and projections 40 on the side-bars of the upper frame engage inside the front faces of these channel parts so that any upward tension on the strap, causing upward movement of the upper frame relative to the lower, produces a wedging action forcing the two frames closer together to grip the strap between the bars 31, 25, as shown; the projections 40 may be formed by the ends of the bar 25, this bar being made of U-section. In a modification, the channel parts 39 may be of parallel form, and the projections 40 are tapered instead. Figs. 10, 11 show this modification applied to a buckle adapted to be buttoned, instead of permanently attached, to a garment ; the lower bar 32 of the lower frame is in this case formed with a loop 34 to engage the stem of the button. The bar 25 of the upper frame and 31 of the lower frame may be cut away as shown at 46, 47 to give greater space for insertion of the button ; the sides of the loop 34 are formed with projecting parts 36 which guide the button over the bar 25 of the upper frame to prevent detachment if the button tends to move upwards when the strap is slack. The bar 25 is preferably provided with a lip 41 projecting upwardly and inwardly to clamp the middle part of the strap against the lower frame bar 31, the edges of the strap, which may be thicker, being left free. The lip 41 and cutaway part 46 may be produced by giving the bar 25 a partly curved form, with a straight centre portion nearer to the bar 26 than the end portions. In a further modification, with the channel parts 39 of parallel form, the projections 40 are formed to guide the upper frame parallel to the lower and the bar 31 is inclined upwardly and forwardly in cross-section so that upward movement of the upper frame on the lower produces a relative movement of the two clamping faces towards each other.
