PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball for a constant velocity joint having excellent durability even if its material is an inexpensive steel material. SOLUTION: The compressive residual stress of a first part 32 whose depth from a surface 30 is 0.1 mm and that of a second part 34 whose depth from the surface is 0.2 mm in the rolling ball (the constant velocity joint ball) 16 are set to≥-1,000 MPa such as -1,180 MPa and -1,020 MPa. It is also preferable to set the compressive residual stress of a part from the first part 32 to the second part 34 to≥-1,000 MPa. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
