The purpose of the present invention is to enable chroma keying without using a large-scale device configuration, at a low cost, and in a simple manner. In the present invention, a camera is disposed at a predetermined position (S1). An image of only a background is acquired using the camera, and the image is saved in correlation with the focal distance at the time of image pickup (S2). Image pickup is carried out with the subject positioned in front of the camera, and the image in which the subject was captured is acquired (S3). From the saved image of only the background, extracted is an image of only the background which was acquired at a focal distance which coincides with the focal distance at the time of subject image-pickup, or the closest focal distance thereto (S4). Using the extracted background-only image and the image in which the subject was captured, image processing is carried out using the background differential method, the subject portion is cut out from the image in which the subject was captured, and portions other than the subject portion, within the image in which the subject was captured, are filled with a prescribed color (S5).
