Result is achieved by the fact that the image is broken down and encoded in units of slices. Decoder is configured to decode slices of a data stream, and decoder responds to the section of the syntax element in the current slice of slices to decode current slice in compliance with one of at least two modes. First mode decoding slice of data stream uses context-adaptive entropy decoding, including output contexts slice boundaries, continuous update of probabilities of contexts' symbol and initialization of symbol probability.
