PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide advantageous characteristics of overcoming conventional faults or at least reducing them, and avoiding frequent administration of an effective medicament (for example one dose per day), and to provide a sustained release preparation of a soluble medicament achieving the blood concentration achieved by frequently administering a small dose of the medicament (two or more doses per day), e.g. 11-[4-[2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethyl]-1-piperazinyl]-dibenzo[b,f][1,4]thiazepine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. SOLUTION: The sustained release preparation contains hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and the 11-[4-[2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethyl]-1-piperazinyl]-dibenzo[b,f][1,4]thiazepine or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof with one or more kinds of pharmaceutically acceptable vehicles.
