PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production by which an acrylic or a methacrylic ester useful as a raw material for resins used in coatings, adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, resins for inks, resist, molding materials, optical materials, etc., can be obtained in good yield in a small number of steps. SOLUTION: A compound represented by formula (1) (wherein, R denotes a hydrogen atom or a methyl group) is reacted.
