PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device in which time required for mounting processing is reduced. SOLUTION: A controller 4 makes a PU head 2 read the ID of an optical disk 100 from its lead-in area of the optical disk 100 (S11), and also makes it check the boundary between the area where laser power was calibrated in the PCA and the area not calibrated yet (S12). This controller 4 reads the ID, the boundary, and the record management information recorded in the memory 6 in steps S3, S5 first (last time) from the memory 6 (S14). Then, it checks whether or not the ID and the boundary read from the optical disk 100 in step S 11 match the ID and the boundary read from the memory 6 (S15, S18). When they match, the controller 4 uses the record management information recorded in the memory 6 last time (S19). Thus, the time required for mounting processing (S16, S17) can be reduced.
