PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyclodextrin derivative showing a high drug-inclusion ability and a high association with a lectin protein. SOLUTION: The cyclodextrin derivative which has an aromatic group within its spacer and various sugar molecules with some degree of freedom branched therefrom can be prepared by using 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl alcohol and 2-chloroethanol as raw materials for the spacer that binds a cyclodextrin to a sugar molecule. This leads to successful development of a drug carrier for a targeted drug transport system, wherein the drug carrier is highly expected to have functions of firmly holding and carrying an anthracycline drug in vivo and highly interacting with the lectin protein.
