PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record respective positions which are made to correspond securely with an insertion length on the inner surface of a celom even when the insertion length to be detected at the outside of the celom does not correspond to the movement amount of a distal end in an insertion part with respect to the inner wall of the celom. SOLUTION: An endoscope system 1 includes: an insertion part 2 to be inserted to the celom X; an image obtaining part 3 arranged at the distal end and obtaining the image of the inner part of the celom X; an insertion length measuring part 4 arranged at the proximal end of the insertion part 2 and measuring the insertion length of the insertion part 2 into the celom X; a storage part 5 for storing the image obtained by the image obtaining part 3 which is made to correspond with the insertion length measured by the insertion length measuring part 4; a follow-up determining part 8 for determining whether or not an insertion operation in the distal end follows the insertion operation in the proximal end of the insertion part 2; and a correcting part 9 for correcting, based on the determination result, the insertion length of the insertion part 2, which is made to correspond with the image to be obtained by the image obtaining part 3, so as to cancel the change of the insertion length which is measured by the insertion length measuring part 4 in a non-follow-up period.
