PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio processing system having a filter unit that employs an infinite impulse response (IIR) filter to filter audio signals and minimizing a transient response following a coefficient change.
SOLUTION: The filter unit initializes elements in the tap delay lines of the IIR filters to non-zero values. In one embodiment, the tap delay elements are changed to a set of predetermined non-zero values. In another embodiment, the tap delay line elements are initialized to the final values produced by the filter for the previous sound source location. In a third embodiment, the tap delay line elements are initialized to values that are functions of the new coefficients and the first sample of data at the new location. In further different embodiment, the tap delay elements are initialized to steady state values produced in response to a step input.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
