Provided is an absorbent article in which an absorbent body (4) includes cellulose-based water-absorbent fibers (11), and thermoplastic resin fibers (12) having a longer fiber length than the cellulose-based water-absorbent fibers (11). The thermoplastic resin fibers (12, 12', 12'') within the absorbent body (4) have first sections (12'a, 12''a) that are exposed at the surface of a liquid-permeable layer side of the absorbent body (4), second sections (12'b, 12''b) that are exposed at the surface of a liquid-impermeable layer side of the absorbent body, and connecting sections (12'c, 12''c) that connect the first sections (12'a, 12''a) and the second sections (12'b, 12''b). The absorbent body (4) is provided with a first area (15) having a preset basis weight, and a second area (16) having a higher basis weight than the first area (15). The second area (16) is configured such that the basis weight of the thermoplastic resin fibers therein is higher than in the first area (15). |
