<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical integrated unit and an optical pickup apparatus in which both of mounting an arithmetic circuit required for signal detection processing and miniaturization are realized. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus is the optical integrated unit 1A used for the optical pickup apparatus recording/reproducing information recorded in a magneto-optical disk, and the apparatus is provided with a semiconductor laser 2 irradiating the magneto-optical disk with a light beam, a polarization separation element 8a dividing reflected light from the magneto-optical disk into diffracted light P1, P2, or the like, a photodetecting parts 3, 4 detecting the light beam divided by the polarization separation element 8a, an arithmetic circuit 6 calculating output signals of the optical detecting parts 3, 4, and a mount substrate 5A to which the photodetecting parts 3, 4 are attached.
