<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet which gives a full-color image superior in clearness and durabilities and particularly in a coloring density and light-resistance, in a thermal transfer method using a sublimable dye. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal transfer sheet consists of a base sheet and a dye carrier layer formed on one side of the base sheet, and a magenta dye contained in the dye carrier layer contains an azo compound expressed by general formula (I).
