PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear capable of increasing suction air quantity and improving noise and vibration performance during operation. SOLUTION: A rocking cam 13 rockably mounted on a drive shaft 10 rotating with interlocking with a crankshaft, a valve lifter 2 sliding in a lifter bore by rocking motion of the rocking cam 13, a boss 2b concentrically provided on an opposite surface of a top surface 2a of the valve lifter 2, a valve 1 abutting on the boss 2b and opening and closing a port with corresponding to up and down motion of the valve lifter 2, and a variable valve gear capable of changing valve lift characteristics of the valve 1 are provided. A rocking center of the rocking cam 13 and a center of the valve lifter 2 are arranged with offset in a direction in which the rocking cam 13 slides on the top surface 2a of the valve lifter 2 at a time of rocking of the rocking cam 13, and an axial center of the valve 1 and the center of the valve lifter 2 are arranged with offset in the same slide direction.
