PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive fixing device with which a fixing roller can be removed from a device body even if a separating pawl is not removed in parting the fixing roller from a pressing roller. SOLUTION: The fixing device includes a heat roller 11 and a press roller 21, and a separating pawl 14 for separating recording paper from the heat roller 11 by abutting on the heat roller 11, and fixes a toner image to the recording paper by passing the recording paper between the heat roller 11 and the press roller 21 in an operating state that the press roller 21 rotates being brought into pressure contact with the heat roller 11. The fixing device is equipped with a pressure contact detaching means which brings the separating pawl 14 in the operating state into contact with the heat roller 11, and detaches the separating pawl 14 from the heat roller 11 accompanying the detaching operation of the heat roller 11 and the press roller 21.
