PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize an application amount of a lubricant to a rotational body, such as an electrostatic latent image carrier, regardless of lapse of duration of use and to miniaturize the apparatus. SOLUTION: The lubricant coating applicator 20 which presses and applies the lubricant to the surface of a rotational body 64 is provided with a rotatable shaft 22 provided approximately parallel to the revolving shaft of the rotational body 64, a solid lubricant 24 which is so formed as to have an approximately constant layer thickness in the prescribed portion in the circumferential direction on the outer circumference of the shaft 22, and in which the surface on the front end side in the rotating direction of the shaft 22 is acted as a pressing surface 26 to the rotational body 64, and a driving mechanism 70 which rotationally drives the shaft 22 in order to press the solid lubricant 24 to the surface of the rotational body 64.
