PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that distinctively displays a predetermined character in a display region with a plurality of segments having different shapes. SOLUTION: The display device 100 is equipped with: a display unit 3 having a display region 30 with a plurality of segments having different shapes; a character segment control means 10 controlling a display state of a segment group constituting a character or the like in the plurality of segments; a background segment control means 11 controlling a display state of a segment group excluding the segment group constituting a character or the like in the plurality of segments; and a contrast control means 12 controlling the contrast between the segment group controlled by the character segment control means 10 and the segment group controlled by the background segment control means 11.
