Provided is a paper currency processing device having a freely opening and closing paper currency conveyance path whereupon paper currency identification sensors are positioned and a freely installable and removable paper currency storage unit, which is small and configured so as to prevent forgetting to close the paper currency conveyance path. The paper currency processing device comprises: a paper currency identification unit (3); a paper currency storage unit (6) which is mounted to be freely installable and removable with respect to a device main body; and a paper currency conveyance path (2) which guides paper currency to the paper currency storage unit (6) and has paper currency identification sensors positioned in interior wall faces (31, 41) of the paper currency identification unit (3). The paper currency processing device is configured such that, with the paper currency storage unit (6) removed, the opening-closing part (4) of the paper currency identification unit (3) can be spread open in the direction in which the paper currency storage unit (6) is positioned such that the interior wall faces (31, 41) of the paper currency conveyance path (2) in the paper currency identification unit (3) are exposed. |
