PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collision detection device for a vehicle that can improve reliability of a collision determination on a vehicle with simple constitution.SOLUTION: A floor sensor 3 provided in an air bag ECU 2 includes a right sensing part 3a which detects acceleration in a direction of a right detection axis R inclined at approximately 45° to a vehicle front-rear direction X and a left sensing part 3b which detects acceleration in a direction of a left detection axis L inclined at 90° to the right detection axis R. Detection signals GR and GL generated by the right sensing part 3a and left sensing part 3b are transmitted to a control part 4. An acceleration composition part 4b of the control part 4 generates a composite acceleration Comb through vector composition of both the accelerations based upon the detection signals GR and GL. A collision determination part 4d determines that the vehicle 7 collides when the composite acceleration Comb is equal to or larger than a predetermined composite acceleration threshold CombTh and a detection signal GR,GL is both equal to or larger than a minimum right acceleration threshold GRTh1 or minimum left acceleration threshold GLTh1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
