A car seat and base are provided for controlling movement of the car seat during deceleration of a vehicle in which the car seat and base are secured.

a body; at least one coupler attached to the body and positioned to selectively couple the car seat base to a vehicle; a car seat attacher providing at least one surface for selective coupling and decoupling of a child car seat to and from the car seat base while the car seat base remains secured to the vehicle, the car seat attacher being slidably coupled to the body; a pivot member pivotably coupled to the body and to the car seat attacher.
